What inspired Gathering yarn to name this base:
Haynes is a rural farming community located in central Alberta, in Lacombe County. This hamlet takes its name from the creek that runs nearby, which was itself named in honour of one of the Prairie’s early pioneers.
My father’s family settled in the area three generations before me, and my father started his own farm one kilometre from Haynes in 1963. It was a wonderful place to grow up, and I took many bike rides to Haynes Creek with my siblings to skip stones on the water and explore the muddy banks.
