Britannia DK – BFL- Masham (Bluefaced Leicester and Masham)

When spun, the blend creates a marled effect.

When dyed, the color result is deep and marled due to the brown Masham fibers in the background.
Britannia, this beautiful English yarn will surprise you!

Although it has a rustic appearance, it hides a dry wool with a surprising softness.

Composition:

75% BFL and 25% Masham, DK weight.

Britannia is very pleasant to knit with. Ideal for all garments and accessories. The resulting fabric is light and warm.

Our yarns are hand-dyed. So, you need to plan the quantity needed for your projects, as the color may vary from one dye lot to another. We take care to reproduce the color of our images as faithfully as possible, however, screen displays may vary. Thus, the color of the skeins you receive may vary slightly from the photo shown. For more uniform knitting, I recommend alternating your skeins.

Suggested needle sizes and gauge:

Needle: The gauge on 3.75 is 22 stitches (with 3.75 mm)

Can be used with needles between 3.75 mm and 4.5 mm (between US5 and US7)

Yardage: 240 meters/100 g (262 yards/3.52 oz)
Care:

Hand wash with a wool soap like Soak, ideally at room temperature (21 °C). Avoid agitation or wringing.

Dry flat away from direct sunlight, do not wring or tumble dry.

Non-machine washable wool (non-SW).

For the little story about the origin of my Britannia base’s name:

Britannia is the Latin name for Great Britain. (Place of origin of this yarn)
Britannia is the national allegorical figure and the female personification of Great Britain, the British Empire, or the United Kingdom.

Furthermore, the Britannia was the last British royal yacht, in service from 1953 to 1997 (under the reign of Elizabeth II).
